Method 1 — LinkedIn Job Apply
+ Recruiter Outreach
The complete system from job search → selection → application → recruiter finding → message → follow-up → tracking → daily targets. Every template below is copy-paste ready.
Toggle the criteria that match this job opening and see your score instantly.
1. Your Complete Process
2. Which Jobs to Target
You are looking at Content Writing / Copywriting roles, so don't start with a very broad search.
Primary Job Titles
Your priority order
3. How to Search Jobs on LinkedIn
Run different searches in LinkedIn Jobs. Click any search string to copy it.
4. Location Strategy
You prefer remote, so prioritize in this order:
- First priority: Remote
- Then: India → Remote
- Then international: US / UK / Canada / Australia → Remote
- And if it's a good company: Hybrid / On-site doesn't need to be completely rejected
5. Job Filter — Score Every Job
Don't apply to every job. Use the simple scoring system above, or reference this table:
| Criteria | Score | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Role strongly matches | +2 | 7+ → Definitely Apply |
| SaaS / B2B / Tech | +2 | |
| Remote | +2 | |
| Experience matches | +2 | 5–6 → Apply |
| Portfolio relevant | +1 | 3–4 → Optional |
| Salary disclosed | +1 | 0–2 → Skip |
6. What to Look For When Reading a JD
Look at these things first in the Job Description:
A. Experience
If it says "2–4 years experience" and your experience is reasonably relevant → Apply.
If it says "7–10 years required" → generally skip. But if the rest of the role is a very strong match, an exception is possible.
B. Skills
Check how well your skills match:
C. Portfolio Requirement
If the portfolio is mandatory, keep relevant samples ready.
7. 2-Minute Research Before Applying
After opening a job: note the company name → look at their LinkedIn page → go to People → Search. Search for these (click to copy):
8. How to Identify the Recruiter
Priority order:
- 4. Talent Partner — Good
- 5. HR Generalist — Possible
- 6. Company employee — Last option
9. Apply First or Message First?
Recommended: Apply first. Then message the recruiter. That way you can naturally say:
10. Recruiter Connection Request
If you're not yet connected to the recruiter, send a connection request first. Keep it short — not a long message.
Hi [Name], I just applied for the [Job Title] role at [Company]. My background is in content/copywriting with experience in [relevant area]. I'd love to connect and stay in touch regarding the opportunity.
11. Message After Your Connection Is Accepted
This is the more important message.
Hi [Name], I recently applied for the [Job Title] position at [Company] and wanted to reach out directly. My background is in content and copywriting, with experience creating [website/landing page/SaaS/SEO/etc.] content. I was particularly interested in this role because [specific reason from the JD/company]. Here's my portfolio: [Portfolio Link] If my background looks relevant, I'd be happy to discuss the role further. Best, Mohit
12. How to Write the Personalized Line
This is the most important part. The line "I was particularly interested in this role because…" must not be generic.
I was particularly interested because the role focuses on B2B SaaS content and conversion-focused copy.
I was particularly interested because the role involves working across different brands and creating website and landing-page copy.
I was particularly interested because the role combines content strategy, AI and conversion-focused writing.
I was particularly interested because the role combines SEO content with broader content strategy.
13. How to Send Your Portfolio
Don't send the recruiter 10 links. Keep one main portfolio.
Portfolio │ ├── Website Copy ├── Landing Page Copy ├── SaaS Copy ├── Blog/SEO ├── Email Copy └── Case Studies
14. Recruiter Read the Message but Didn't Reply?
Follow-up #1 — after 3–4 business days
Hi [Name], just following up on my application for the [Job Title] role. I'm still very interested in the opportunity and would be happy to share any additional writing samples or information if helpful. Thanks!
15. Second Follow-up
If you still get no response — after 5–7 business days:
Hi [Name], one last follow-up regarding the [Job Title] position. I'd be glad to discuss how my content/copywriting experience could fit the role. Sharing my portfolio again here for convenience: [Portfolio Link] Thanks for your time.
16. If the Recruiter Replies
Thanks, [Name]. I appreciate it. Please let me know if you need any additional information, writing samples, or details from my side. I'd be happy to provide them.
17. If the Recruiter Says "We'll Get Back to You"
Absolutely, thank you, [Name]. I appreciate you taking the time to review my profile. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
18. If the Job Already Shows 100+ Applicants
Don't automatically reject it. If all these are true, do Apply + Recruiter Outreach:
- The role is highly relevant
- The company is good
- Your skills match
- The recruiter can be identified
19. Using "Easy Apply" Correctly
Don't make Easy Apply your primary strategy. The correct formula:
Combine all three:
20. Daily Target
In the beginning you don't need a very high number of applications.
Meaning, start with 5–10 quality applications / day.
21. Weekly Target
If you work 5 days:
- 25–50 targeted applications / week
- 25–50 recruiter outreach / week
22. Job Tracking Sheet
Create a Google Sheet / Excel. Columns:
Date | Company | Job | Location | URL | Applied | Recruiter | Recruiter URL | Message Sent | Follow-up 1 | Follow-up 2 | Status
Status options
23. Daily Workflow
| Step | Time | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Step 1 | 30 min | LinkedIn Jobs search |
| Step 2 | 30–45 min | Shortlist the 5–10 best jobs |
| Step 3 | 30 min | Complete applications |
| Step 4 | 30 min | Identify recruiters |
| Step 5 | 30 min | Send personalized messages |
| Step 6 | 10 min | Follow-ups from previous applications |
24. The Biggest Mistake
Don't do this:
Hi Sir/Mam, I am looking for a job opportunity. Please let me know if you have any vacancy for a content writer. Here is my resume. Thanks.
This makes you look like a job seeker, not a candidate. Instead:
25. Golden Rule of Your Application Strategy
Put every application in this structure:
